Dees! We used to have one of them many years ago. It's been through various names over the years (Kwik-Save was the last one I remember) before turning into it's current Somerfield guise

Another old supermarket name you dont see any more was VICTOR VALUE. Probably now part of Tescos like most things.

I'm from darn sarf and I vaguely remember the name, but I certainly don't remember seeing many.

Wikipedia says: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Value

So you're mostly right about Tesco
Sworn, b'loody!

We had Lo-Cost, where my Nana used to go for her "bags" of milk and cheap bread,
Also Happy Shopper and Shopping Giant, I think the last one was Co-Op run.

I had a part-time job at the Fine Fare in Aberdeen when I was about 16 or so. I worked in the warehouse (this was before computers and "just in time" ordering) it certainly kept you fit lobbing cases of tins about the place! the worst job in that store was being sent to collect trolleys in the car park, as the store was built on the top of a hill with the car park running down to the road below, you ended up with serious calf muscles.
It became a Gateway, but when Sommerfield bought them out they had to sell off some of the stores to prevent them having a monopoly so this one became an Asda.
