Bug in the forum?

Post by Bluebottle » Tue Mar 14, 2006 1:08 am

The suggestions file is the best place I could find to put this, so here goes.

If you try to post a link to a url with full stops in, it doesn't seem to like it very much.

Posting just the url misses the end off - thus:
http://www.netcooks.com/recipes/Beverag ... .Beer.html

However, enclosing it in url tage doesn't seem to work either...
http://www.netcooks.com/recipes/Beverag ... .Beer.html

(Looking back at that, maybe it's the apostrophe it doesn't like...)

For completeness, it doesn't work if you do it like this either:

ginger beer

It's definitely the apostrophe it doesn't like. Maybe you should put the code for apostrophes in the URL, which I'm afraid I don't know off-hand. It's something like %20 for spaces, isn't it?

Have you tried this on other BBs running on phpBB?

Or maybe you could look to see if there's any documentation about it on the web. Someone must have spotted this before.

Who the McGibberish puts apostrophes in filenames anyway? And all those full stops?

Is it just me, or has the 'Profile' link stopped working?

Eccles: Oh yes, I know Eccles
Neddie: Well, does he know?
Eccles: Just a minute, I'll ask him
<silence>
Neddie: Well?
Eccles: There's no answer - I think he's out

I think it was one on those Google spiders or something got in the works, but it's fixed now.

I do appreciate bugs being reported.

Thanks
