 I still enjoy going to a shop and asking the young assistant whether they have any Marathons in stock.
The blank look on their face says it all. :x why did they change it to Snickers does anyone know?

I'm not sure, but they missed a trick when they changed the name. Can you imagine the advertising possibilities with Paula Radcliffe? "The big chocolate bar ... another marathon that Paula can't finish"

I have been known on occasion to go into shops and ask for Marathons... generally after a small bevvy or three...
? I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze.
? This place has become impossible. Nothing to eat, freezing cold and now a madman on the prowl outside with eels.

Do any shops exist where you actually have to ASK for a Marathon or a Snickers? Surely they are on the counter and you just pick one up?

There is a shop round these parts somewhere where all the choccies are behind the counter to stop the grubby little kids nicking them all. Can't think where it is tho'...

Some shops have them behind glass so you can see them but not touch. I like buying choc in the pub.

I still call it a Marathon too. When the young female assistant looks bemused and says 'What's that sir?' I always say, 'Come back to my place and I'l explain over a Toblerone'.
