Canvas haversacks

Clothes and shoe trends we have all been tricked into wearing, and maybe still do?

Canvas haversacks

Postby charliemonk » Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:20 pm

My search for a new school bag for my little boy made me remember the old canvas rucksacks or haversacks we used to use.
Came in petrol blue, canvas or in later years by popular demand and a big pot of dye, black.
Always carried by the alternative kids and ALWAYS customised with band logos. The metalheads would have ac/dc, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath etc and the more artistic would paint album covers on them too.

My haversack was unadorned khaki, army issue, donated by my Dad to save a few bob. If I'd dared personalise it in any way he'd have hit the ceiling and the school might not have let it in! :D
Sworn, b'loody!

Mine was a green one, the two shoulder strap one (I'm sure there's a name for it but I can't remember). I carried it all the way through high school and onto work, but smashed a bottle of milk in it one day and could never get rid of the smell.

Threw it away in the end. :?
