Magic Robot

Post by Helena » Wed Dec 08, 2004 12:50 pm

Did anyone else have this? I've never met anyone personally who did, though I used to amuse myself for hours with it.

It was a plastic robot holding a long pointer. There were two circles, one with questions, the other with answers. Different sheets had questions in different categories. You had to put the robot on the question side, spin him so the pointer indicated a question, then move him over to stand on a mirror, where he would spin until he was pointing at the answer. Took me until I was a fair bit older to work out it was all done with magnets, at the time it was true magic!

I still remember a lot of the general knowledge I learned through continually playing with it. :)

If you put Slippy in an echo chamber, he'd still be quackers!

Yes - a brilliant pass time. I loved the way the robot slowed down as it wavered around the right answer - enthralling to me back in the 50's
