We make chutneys and pickles from our smallholding and are instructed to put best before dates on our products,but as an example of how much longer preserved products can last, we opened a jar ofour green tomato chutney the other day and it was lovley and tasty, thing was the BB date we put on it was 08/2003 which made the chutney actually 6 years old from the time of production.
