Id have to disagree! they have become more flavoursome (might have made that word up) and "meant" to be better for you than in the past! i think i was too young to remember what they used to taste like!

Years ago it was a two horse race between Smiths and Golden Wonder. There were limited flavours too. Now you can get any kind of crisps imaginable, in any flavour, texture, shape, low fat, low salt, crinkle cut etc. I used to love Golden Wonder cheese 'n onion. Had a taste all of their own.

Are you sure you weren't dreaming?

Ooh, but I don't half fancy some cheese on toast now! (Or cheese toasties, as we always called them, but apparently that's a toasted cheese sandwich.)

Certain!! Sometimes when you search your topic, it brings up far too many threads to look through all of them..

There certainly was a cheese on toast flavour!

Yep, knew I wasn't just making it up. I got this reply from Walkers :

Thank you for your recent enquiry about Walkers Toasted Cheese Crisps.

Unfortunately, this product was discontinued some years ago. The main reason for this was that demand was disappointingly low. Our Marketing Team do however, continue to monitor the requirements of our consumers to make sure our current product range reflects consumer preferences.

Please be assured, we have forwarded your comments on to our Marketing Team for their attention.

Thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

Regards

I don't even remember them... and crisps form 87.2% of my staple diet.

Aw, wasn't that sweet they way they thought that demand was "disappointingly low"? I can envisage the marketing blokes in white shirts being all sad, and not understanding why hardly anyone wants to buy their exciting new flavour!

Maybe it's the concept of cheese on toast with potato. They should do things that will go with potatoes, like oh, salt and vinegar. They do that already, you say? t'riffic - I'll just pop to the shop...

Dave, did you see those adverts a little while ago about how if you have a packet of crisps every day, it's like drinking 5 gallons of cooking oil a week?

Ughh!!!!

Lets suggest some new flavours to Walkers.

I nominate Chicken fajita flavour, or dead crab.
