MY GOD THEY ARE UGLY, and Nissan Sunnies are highly impractical.

There's a story about how the Nissan Sunny came to be so called, way back in the 70's.

The Japanese for 2 is 'ni' and the Japanese for 3 is 'san' - and one of the guys on the naming team called his colleague on extension 2332 and liked the response so much....

Quite likely. I heard it back in the 70's from my boss when I was working in the Japanese Accounts area.

Another of his was about the Mitsubishi Starion, so called because some pillock let it get into production before looking up how to spell 'Stallion.' That I could believe, though Mitsubishi has always strenuously denied it.
