Pillow-shaped yellow things

Post by pandammonium » Tue Jan 18, 2005 10:15 am

What were they called? I think there was some kind of pirate connection to them and they floated in the milk cos they were hollow. Then they went really soggy and sank.

Were they called "Klondikes" or something like that?

With a character called "Klondike Pete" on the box.... the cereal itself looking like little yellow pillows as you describe.
One by one the penguins steal my sanity.

Hrm, they might have been, but that doesn't ring a bell.

Wasn't it "Golden Nuggets" that had Klondike Pete on the box

As I remember it he was used to advertise them......... Klondike Pete being a "Gold" prospector Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_18

I reckon you're talking about Cap'n Crunch.
They were really nice, I think they made the milk yellowish, but I bet they were full of sugar and lots of other nasties.
We used to get them in the early seventies from the local co-op.
You can still get them in the states (www.capncrunch.com).
I'd like to try them again, anyone know of a UK importer?

No, I'm afraid that's not them either. There was something nautical about the box, I think, and they were hollow, if that's any help. :?

I don't know where you could get Cap'n Crunch from here - sorry :(

Cap'n Crunch.....how much more nautical can you get?

Perhaps your thinking of fishfingers and Captain Birds Eye.
You may have had them for breakfast too, and spilt your milk on them!

Hmm. Fish fingers are definitely a tea-time thing. Preferably in a butty with chips, mushy peas and excessive ketchup.

I saw on TV that Youngs or someone are planning to sell a new range of fishfinger.
It will be larger than normal AND HAVE MUSHY PEAS IN THE MIDDLE!
The wonders of modern science.

But how will the mushy peas make the batter (no breadcrumbed nonsense for me!) soggy and green?

Ooh! Must look out for them!
? I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze.
? This place has become impossible. Nothing to eat, freezing cold and now a madman on the prowl outside with eels.

Hey, when/why did I get a bronze star?

PS I still think it was Cap'n Crunch you are thinking of.
He's a pirate you know (nautical connection), tasted like nothing else I have ever tasted, they were yellow, and hollow inside (as opposed to hollow on the outside).

I think 10 posts gets you a bronze star - well done - see how far you can get! (No pointless posts just to up your post count though - that will be frowned uopn and Pandarated - you have been warned! )

Hollow on the outside...there's a concept. *tries to think about how this could be utilised in a product (or should that be outside of a product?) but fails*

p.s. I still don't think it was Cap'n Crunch :P

But Golden Nuggets are nugget-shaped, not pillow-shaped:

...unless Panda has funny-shaped pillows. :!:
