JACANORY
Always loved listening to the stories. They used to have celebrities like Hannah Gordon, Bernard Cribbens & Martin Jarvis reading. I particularly remember the stories about"Little Nose" the cave boy.
I see they are planning to bring Jackanory back!max31268 wrote:Sometimes really boring. But I remember a story about 2 wooden fairground horses, coming to life. One was called Carla. In the end one broke its leg, and then turned back to wood. It was really sad.
Not quite in the old format, but it's returning!!

I'm trying to think of who could be the 'weird' bloke who read the Dahl stories.........can only think of Rick Myall from the Young Ones!!pandammonium wrote:I remember some weird bloke doing one of Roald Dahl's stories. It involved nasty medicine, I think.

Oh, so it was!
But I remember the "weird bloke" having dark, lank hair, whereas Rik Mayall has wavy blond hair (at least he does in The New Statesman).
And you shut up, Blue
I'm amazed you can't spell weird as well. An exception to rule - even the excepted part

And you shut up, Blue

Have you seen it now?! They've gone all computerised, and have all these snazzy computerised animations, now!
It's a disgrace.
Back in my day, you might have got the occasional hand-drawn picture to illustrate the story (from the original book? I don't know). It's all very well trying to get kids into books, but to use such animations means the kids don't have to use their imaginations anymore.
It's a disgrace, I say. A disgrace.
