Radio Caroline

Like Superman on the radio (great for the imagination), likewise Journey Into Space, or the TeleGoons. Showing my age now!!

.......and Radio London and all the other 1960's pirate stations.
Easter 1964 suddenly made being a teenager and having a transistor radio worthwhile.
Too many stations to list and too many great DJ's as well.
They forced the government into action and brought about the birth of Radio One. Never as good and failed as a pirate replacement. =D> \:D/ ':- :-({|=

Well they beat the wotnots out of Radio Luxembourg, the only other pop-music radio available in the evenings. (I'm sure there was another thread where we talked about pirate radio....)

Just like they killed Rdio Luxembourg by stealing its adverts, in the end the government killed them by making it illegal to advertise on them.
Sworn, b'loody!
